Nonlinear is a newsletter about the new rules of work, wealth, and power.
The old link between effort and reward is broken. The uncertainty, inequality, and lottery dynamics of show business are spreading across the economy, making all career paths more scalable and more risky.
Why is this happening? How can we make the most of it?
Nonlinear explores the personal heuristics, management methods, and investment strategies that work now and in the immediate future.
Each week, you’ll get:
Brief commentary on the most consequential shifts in tech, markets, and geopolitics.
Practical strategies and mental models that apply to your business, portfolio, or career.
I’m writing a book on the Nonlinear Economy for Simon & Schuster. I’m an economic historian by training, entrepreneur and investor by experience. I’ve written for The New York Times and The Atlantic but I keep my best ideas for my own book(s) and newsletter.
I’ve worn many hats: party promoter, infantry soldier, PE executive, tech entrepreneur, and writer. I’ve been shot at, gone viral, gambled my savings on a failed startup, and made a small fortune in crypto and online content. These days, I help some of the world’s largest companies, investment firms, and governments make sense of economic change.
Each of these experiences informs my writing, especially my most important role: that of a father. What practical insights can help my children thrive in a world that grows more unpredictable, disproportionate, and volatile every day? How can I make the most of my own time to leave them with more resources for experimentation and discovery?
This newsletter is where I share what I learn, and learn from what others are sharing. Subscribe to join the conversation.
